Willem Dafoe Moutheyes

This is something I quickly whipped up in my spare time. If you've spent any time on the internet, you would probably have seen examples of "moutheyes" - where people photoshop a celebrity's mouth over their eyes. Just google it.
I've always thought Willem Dafoe had a weird mouth, and I was surprised when I couldn't find any moutheyes pictures featuring him, so here is my offering.
Be disturbed.

Hair and Makeup photoshoot 2

So here are the results of the second photoshoot we did with the hair and makeup crew. Again, these are the retouched versions. I haven't included any of the originals because this page would become three kilometres long.
This one is intended to mimic advertisements from the 60s and 70s

Here I basically just retouched some of the colour and applied a high-pass filter.

I quite like the effect of selective colouring in a black and white photo

Here I tried to create an interesting combination between the fantastic and the real.

Steve Buscemi photo manipulation

Here are the results of a bit of playing around with various filters and functions in photoshop.
Original photo I found somewhere in the internet.

Hair and Makeup photoshoot 1

One of the interesting things about the media course I did was that, as it is part of the greater body that is Diversitat, it was affiliated with a number of other courses, such as the Makeup Academy and the Hair Acadamy. This of course is a great opportunity for both of us - they were able to have their work photographed for their personal portfolios for free, and we had models for us to try our skills on. These are some of my photos, retouched and manipulated in photoshop, from the first photoshoot we did.

A few tid-bits

So, here's my first offering:
It's just a bit of dabbling in Photoshop, testing out the basics as well as some filters. The idea was to find a photo on the internet that was not perfect in terms of levels and make the necessary adjustments, then get a bit creative.
The original picture came from Emil's Lost & Found archive. Here is what I came up with:
Adjusted for light levels and sharpened

Cartoonified

Old timey look!
And here's a picture of Marie Stopes, pioneer in birth control and women's rights, now with a dog in a lobster suit. This was an exercise it compositing:
The way I'm sure she would want to be seen.

The monster lives

Well, the first post is always the hardest, they say. Well, I've never actually heard anyone say that about blog posts specifically, but I'm sure the principle still applies.
So, in an attempt to generate a little bit more online presence for myself, I've set up another blog. If you followed my travel blog in 2011 you might be a bit perplexed that I'm doing one about photography now, but I assure you I've gotten a bit better since then.
For starters I'll just be uploading the work I've done for my Screen and Media class. I can't promise any of it is particularly artistic, illuminating or even any good - I'm not a professional photographer after all - but I feel it may be useful to put what I'm doing up online for posterity and generally as a record of what I'm doing and learning and how I'm progressing.
So if you've stumbled on here and have any kind of opinion on my work - good, bad, indifferent - please comment.
